Those living in Flanders are entitled to what we refer to as the School Bonus. Those living in Brussels or Wallonia are entitled to the School Premium. 
The School Premium or School Bonus has been available for quite some time and provides families with an additional boost at the start of the school year. This annual premium is paid in August, together with your Child Benefit for the month of July. The amounts vary from EUR 20.40 to EUR 61.20

Unfortunately, not every child is lucky enough to grow up in a stable and warm environment. There may be different reasons for this, but in such a case it’s in the best interests of the child to be (temporarily) placed with a loving foster family.

Orphan’s allowance

Orphan’s allowance

Children who lose 1 or both parents receive additional support. They’re entitled to an orphan’s allowance (previously known as the care allowance for orphans), providing they’re entitled to the Growth Package.

Children who are placed with a foster family are entitled to a monthly supplement to the basic Growth Package amount. This applies with the exception of supportive foster care.
